Sarah- Tuesday, July 1st

I think I may have training ADD. My 'schedule' pretty much constitutes me picking something out the exercise hat (in my head) based on the events of the day, time of day, temperature, and what I feel like doing. I try to rotate and mix things up. It helps me to not get bored and I feel like it gets me in better shape all around (quite literally :)

Today I felt like being outside of the house. Be it 96 degrees outside when Chris got home from work, I needed to go out the door. So I decided to try out rollerblading in the heat and see if it has the same effect as running.

I'll tell you one thing, it works different muscles for sure. I did 3 miles with my gluteus burning to the maximus almost from glide 1. A good butt and lower back workout for sure. Just picking them up is hard- they're heavy! On my second lap, a neighbor stopped to watch and said, 'that looks like good exercise' as I was rolling by. I couldn't figure out if that meant that it looked hard to him or it looked hard on me. Maybe both :) I find myself staring at the ground alot and trying to figure out what random stuff is on the sidewalk or how it got there. If it's liquid, how long it will take to evaporate. There's one spot on my loop that there are these liquidesque spots that don't ever go away. I have to will myself by them and not to touch them to figure out what they are. My OCD becomes more apparent :)

I think that's the key! ADD about working out... all over the map. Its the best way to variety, and I think its the best way to not become burnt out by trying to run 35 miles a week. It IS about what works for you, in your environment, to your schedule to get your heart rate up, blood pumping, and lungs exploding for an extended period of time, regardless of what muscles you work, what time it is or how hot it may be...

unfortunately, my OUT THE DOOR today was going to the bar and talking to Chrissy over my drink and her other 50 customers!

Viva Sex With Chrissy! (the drink she made me that looks like GreenErgy, but tastes like amaretto with pineapple and strawberries)!

Okay, the "liquidesque spots" cracked me up! I usually watch the street for worms -- then during my cool-down walk after I'm done running, I go back to "rescue" the worms & put them in the grass.
I'll have to check for any liquidesque spots tomorrow!! Too Funny!!

Btw, I thinking "mixing it up" with your workouts is an awesome idea! You rock!
